The RHA Nationals and the Hockey RINK Corp. are excited to announce the Elite 15’s coaching staff for the 2018/19 season.
Returning for his second season as Head Coach, and third season coaching with the RHA Nationals Program, Nick Fuher will be the head coach of the Elite 15's once again this season. Joining Nick will be newcomer Mitch Giguere, serving as assistant coach.
Nick Fuher, Head Coach
Before joining RHA, Nick was an assistant coach from 2014-2016 in the BCHL with the Penticton Vees and helped them capture the BCHL and WCC Championships in 2015, along with two division and regular season titles. Prior to that Nick was an assistant coach with the Winkler Flyers of the MJHL and the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. Fuher’s playing career saw him spend four years at the University of North Dakota, where he was a standout defenceman. Nick holds the record for career game-winning goals by a defencemen in school history, as well as accumulating 83 points during his four years and helping them to a National Championship runner-up finish in 2005. Following his collegiate career Nick went on to play for the Utah Grizzlies of the AHL.
Mitch Giguere, Assistant Coach
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Mitch is a hockey student and coach for more than 10 years. Mitch has his High Performance 2 from Hockey Canada and has an Advanced Coaching Diploma (NCCP4) from the Canadian Sports Institute. After playing Midget and Senior Hockey, Mitch started coaching in the Quebec AA system. After spending one year in AAA midget as an assistant coach, he started coaching Minor Midget for three seasons and captured three Bronze medals in consecutive years, and sent several players to Junior teams across Canada, and had players selected in the NHL Draft. Mitch has also been heavily involved with the Team Quebec Program of Excellence (U14-U15-U16) and had the chance to be an assistant coach in the QMJHL Combine. He was a scout for the Foreurs Val d'Or in the QMJHL for 3 years. Mitch and his family (three daughters and one son) have decided to move out west for a new challenge. Mitch started last season as an Assistant Coach with the Dauphin Kings in the MJHL before taking over as the Interim Head Coach and General Manager in November. He is extremely proud and excited to be surrounded by great hockey people and professionals. He is looking forward to learning, teaching and be being a part of the RINK Hockey Academy.
